Revisiting the Past through Your Inspired Vintage Theme Decorations at Home

Sometimes it is nice to reminisce the past and be inspired with the classic music and movies from the 1950’s or maybe the retro fashion that over the years keeps on coming back. And that gives some of us the thought of making our own home a little different from today's modern look and style, maybe a little touch of the past won’t hurt. Perhaps you want to experience how is it like to sleep in chenille bedspread like your grandmother does, or staying in a sitting room from 1940s. Indeed, a vintage inspired home is both remarkable and unique in these modern years.

Retro decorating is one of the easiest ways if you are thinking of a theme for your home on a tight budget. Reusing some of the things that are probably available in your basement or attic will be of help. Just combine it with your artistic imagination.

First, choose a color that would match your theme. The combination of black and white would be perfect, or one of the ranges of red-brown colors that were used in ancient days to decorate their walls, bricks or woodworks would be fine as well.

Adding decorations are also necessary to serve as a reminder of the past. For example, you can add a grandfather clock to have an intricate impact on the interior of the room while an outdoor wall clock will be placed on the outside to give it a more elaborated view. But of course, you need to choose a material for outdoor wall clocks that agrees with your theme. A bronze with a touch of copper and brass will do.

You can even add a wall paper that coincides the other furniture to complete the look if you think painting the wall will do a lot of hassles. Placing antique vases, candleholders and table wares will certainly bring back the aura of the past.

On the other hand, the outside look of your house will mean a lot since that would represent the entire appearance of your home to the passersby. Vintage weather vanes will be perfect because of its distinctive look and character, though, its functionality is not that of importance. And for some instances, not everyone in the neighborhood owns a weather vane, and that reason alone is worth the purchase.

Lastly, to further extend the vintage totality of your home, you need to consider setting an address plaque which is visually antique but is functional on the other side. Or you can just affix it to your mailbox depending on your like. In fact, mailboxes can also add an eccentric presence to the totality of your depicted retro theme.
